This makes several great points. Choosing the wrong words just makes the wounds the people in the gulf region are coping with, sting.
While it is a global problem that will have an impact on the economy, our food supply, the eco-system, etc., when people are so upset to begin with, they don’t want to hear about “the feellings” of the people they deem responsible for their stress. Events that might have flown under the radar make better content when a quote is attached. We listen in 140 characters, these days, and our brains make decisions about what matters (what we’ll remember) in less than 10 seconds, which is plenty of time to say the wrong thing.

Believe you have to consider all aspects in the current economic climate - personally do no think we have seen the full extent of the recesssion, so would be cautious in considering.

john, love your memory! brings back some wonderful times i had in DC. mine of Mr. Kennedy was riding the tram with him in front where he invited me to sit next to him on our way to the capitol for roll call. never forget it. those little encounters and a big one like yours, keeps life interesting and moving in the right direction. thanks for sharing, jerry
